Invitation from First Event

Thank you for your interest, but our event is now full – we’ll keep you posted as to what comes next.

Dear Friends,

Something exciting happened in Canada three years ago.  Canadians from all walks of life came together and created a new vision for their country culminating in what became the “Leap Manifesto.”

They took their vision all over the country, spread it widely over public media, and presented it to many groups and to all the political parties.  It has been officially adopted by communities all over Canada.  There are now Leap groups actively working in Canada and in many other countries.

Could we do that here in Vermont?

A group of Addison County residents that calls itself “The Huddle,” motivated by the success of the Canadian vision, would like to invite Vermonters from diverse backgrounds and geographical areas to come together to come up with our own Vision for Vermont.  We will use some of the same techniques that were used to create the Leap Manifesto to find common ground among us.

To that end, we would like you to join us for a Vision for Vermont  Summit on Saturday, September 15, 10-4, at the Bread Loaf Campus in Ripton, Vermont.

Here’s what will happen at the Vision Summit.  We will arrive, meet one another, tell stories about our hopes for the future of Vermont, share a meal, and enjoy some time outdoors on the beautiful Bread Loaf campus.  Jon Isham, an experienced group facilitator, will lead us in exercises to help us focus on our joint hopes and concerns.  At the end of the day, we will have the beginnings of a Vision for Vermont.  If there is enough interest, a smaller group will continue working on a vision statement.

We hope each of us will come away from the Vision Summit feeling more connected with other Vermonters and inspired to continue working towards a new Vision for Vermont.  This event is open to the public, but you must be pre-registered. There is a $10 fee to pay for lunch, or pay what you can.

Childcare will be provided upon request, the site is handicapped accessible, there is parking onsite, and overnight hospitality can be provided by request for Friday and Saturday nights.  The Bread Loaf campus is located at 4229 Route 125, Ripton, VT, 05753.

Signed,

Bethany Barry for the Huddle Group
